Demosphere Attends “One Night One Goal” with DC Scores

The Demosphere team was proud to attend the One Night One Goal fundraising event for DC Scores. DC Scores is a non-profit organization creating neighborhood teams that give kids in need the confidence and skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom, and in life.

The event was well attended by community partners like DC United and local soccer clubs like Vienna Youth Soccer. Additionally, various sponsors and donors were in attendance including Audi, José Andrés Think Food Group, and Levy Restaurants. The evening was action packed beginning with a poetry slam from some very talented DC Scores kids. There was a silent auction that included lots of DC United memorabilia, and an amazing spread of food sponsored by Levy and Think Food Group.

Next, DC United’s Bill Hamid and Washington Spirit’s Joanna Lohman kicked off the live auction event which proved to be quite lively. Attendees outbid one another throughout the night with each item raising well over $1,000. One item, a dinner with Ben Olsen and José Andrés, raised almost $10,000! Ben Olsen threw in an offer to bring along DC United’s star player, Wayne Rooney, which helped bump up the final bid.

By our count, because of the very generous donations from attendees throughout the night, the event raised over $400k in support of local schools and communities to support kids in need.
