Customer Success Story: Streamlining Elmhurst’s Team Draft Process

Client Elmhurst Baseball and Softball League recently shared how partnering with Demosphere positively impacted their organization. Most notably, our system streamlined Elmhurst’s team drafting process from several hours to under 30 minutes!

Player Ratings
To begin, Elmhurst needed coaches to rate players from the previous season. Using Demosphere’s custom data fields, users can create an admin-only ‘Player Rating’ field to track these ratings in the system. Once this phase is complete, limited access users can view ratings directly within the platform, ahead of the live draft.
Live Draft
With all the ratings in place, Elmhurst assigned the draft pick order using the snake draft concept where the order is reversed each round. Finally, league administrators scheduled the live draft with options for participating in person or on Zoom.
Team Rostering
Whether joining in person or online, Elmhurst administrators utilized Demosphere’s Registration Management feature to share vital information with all coaches. This feature allowed administrators and coaches to filter and configure the registration table by age group and key data points, such as player name, age, gender, and rating.
Elmhurst reported that Demosphere’s filter, sort, and search capabilities allowed them to quickly locate and assign available players to teams, saving valuable time in the process!
Roster Finalization
Lastly, it was time to finalize the teams. Elmhurst administrators used Demosphere’s drag-and-drop team-building tools to create the rosters in real-time. As the draft progressed, the platform updated player and staff counts for each team, ensuring balanced teams, with all roster rules being met.
The Demosphere platform also makes it easy to keep coaches and assistant coaches rostered with their kids. When a staff member is added to a roster, their child is automatically placed on the same team unless overridden.
