Recently, our Strategic Account Manager, Brittany Gropp, attended the World Football Summit Europe (WFS) held at Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid!

WFS began in 2016, with the goal to gather thought leaders in the football community to discuss shaping the future of the sport. Today, the summit meets in multiple hubs around the world, including Costa Rica, South Africa, and Malaysia.

Aside from being an avid football fan herself, Gropp attended the summit with business objectives in mind – on one end, she aimed to do a bit of market research for Demosphere on the other side of the pond, and on the other end, she was looking to learn from speakers and make connections for her growing girls’ empowerment organization FutboLISTAS, based in Seville, Spain.

“The conference was amazing. I had the opportunity to meet several representatives from professional clubs, leagues, and federations, as well as a few of the big corporate players in Europe. There were many sessions about technology – mostly focused on stadium experience, fan engagement, and social media. I found it fascinating as technology is an ever-changing sector. There were also interesting sessions on how data transforms football.” Gropp commented.

She also highlighted the sessions discussing diversity in football. Topics included using sports for social change, and why supporting the women’s game is both the right thing to do and the smart business decision.

“I was blown away by the genuine support and inspiration I received from the other women in attendance. We may be outnumbered at these events, but it’s motivating that all of us are committed to working together and lifting each other up so we’ll continue to see more female representation.”
