Maximize Demosphere - August 2011
The August edition of Maximize Demosphere focused on Personal Online Security and is featured below. Click to download a copy of the slides in PDF format. The slides are available to view as well with no narration.
During the session, we discussed both Physical Security and Individual Security.
- Physical Security includes those means you use to access information online, be it your work computer, personal computer/laptop, or even your smartphone. The session discussed the differences between viruses, spyware, and trojans and what types of software are necessary to fully protect your computer. In general, this includes anti-virus, anti-malware, and a firewall.
- Individual Security includes your actua day-to-day usage - there were 8.1 million victims of identity theft in 2010. To avoid becoming part of this statistic, the session offered multiple ways to protect yourself and your information.
- Finally, the session closed by providing information for future reading and ways to stay abreast of the latest security news. New threats reveal themselves daily and you need to be ready to protect yourself.
Feel free to watch the recording of the session and/or download the slides. We hope you can join us for a future session!
